Diplomatic relations between India and Uganda were
established in 1965. Since then, the Indian High Commission has been functioning in Kampala continuously.
The High Commission is headed by the High Commissioner, who is currently Shri S.N. Ray.
He is assisted by a small team including Shri Rajesh Gawande, Second Secretary, Shri Tarun Kumar, Attache, Smt Arti Vasdev, PS to
High Commissioner, Shri Terence J. Dick, Attache, Shri K. Madhusudhana Rao, Attache and other officials.
The High Commission represents the Government of India in Uganda and, as such, is responsible for safeguarding and promoting Indian interests in the country. These include a strong and multifaceted bilateral relationship with Uganda comprising political, economic, commercial, consular, cultural, scientific and other elements.
The High Commission of India undertakes activities of different types including provision of consular services such as passports and visas. Detailed information on consular services is available in another section of this website.
The High Commission of India is also accredited to Rwanda and Burundi. The foregoing in respect of Uganda is therefore also applicable to these two countries.
